It is an English term, commonly used in some Latin American countries such as Argentina, to designate the contemporary version of what once were cattle feedlots. The Feedlot or corral fattening arose from the need to intensify production, and consists of confining the animals in pens where they receive food through feeders. Instead of feeding on natural pastures (extensive livestock) or forage plants such as alfalfa, the cattle in the feedlots are fed with balanced feed made from corn, soybeans and other special supplements. We are pioneers in Colombia in the management of the feedlot, where we began the traceability of our operations to obtain meat in containers as a final product and/or exports of live animals between 5,000 and 15,000 animals. The company has adequate technology for the areas of feeding, animal health, management, reproduction, genetics, biotechnology and animal welfare.

37,200 kg of feed is prepared in a mixer and consists of 30,000 kg of corn silage and 7200 kg of hay, each animal eats an average of 15 kg per day.

The quality of the silage and the correct balance between starch and fiber digestibility help maintain the health of the animals and guarantee a greater availability of vital energy, which means higher productivity and profitability for Frontera Vacana.

We use angleton hay because has been noted for being resistant to drought and provide a high nutritional value to livestock. It is known as «king of pastures» in the low tropics. In well-managed pastures, it reaches levels of crude protein between 10 and 16%, a digestibility of 65 to 75%. We maintain high quality standards and excellent nutritional properties.
